Indigenous cadetship programs

As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cadet, you will get the chance to work with leading scientists and mentors to solve some of Australia's biggest challenges in a range of settings.

Our program provides financial assistance to support your full time study and provides 12 weeks of paid work placement at flexible times throughout the year. During periods of full time study you will be provided with a mentor and the opportunity to participate in CSIRO's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff Forum which brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cadets and employees across the organisation via a monthly webinar.

Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cadetship program gives you the opportunity to get some serious career runs on the board before you've even completed your degree! Our program offers the combination of full time study during the semester and flexible work placements within CSIRO for the duration of your full time study program. These placements are usually completed during the summer at the end of each academic year.

Applicants must be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and enrolled in full-time study in their first undergraduate degree course at an Australian university. Aboriginal and Torres Strait cadetships are advertised at various times throughout the year via our current vacancies portal.
